Meet Capt. Jake Nickol

I am a Florida native born and raised in Seminole and my fishing story starts in a small pond in our family neighborhood growing up, I spent hours upon hours catching and re catching every bass in that pond with my friends. That love for the feeling of a hard fighting fish on the opposite end of a fishing line sparked a passion for fishing that has stuck with me my entire life. I soon moved up to fishing from the Skyway and Redington piers with my dad and friends learning tactics from the many folks I met there. Soon after, I began wade and kayak fishing all over the bay targeting the many game fish species we have here including redfish, snook, and trout.

After highschool I ventured South to Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida where my passion for fishing and the sea followed. I studied biology and geography and gained an even more in depth appreciation of our fisheries and the incredible natural resources that I had grown up enjoying. I spent many days(sometimes too many) fishing the brackish canals of Southeast Florida bordering the Everglades catching Snook as well as many exotic fish like the Peacock Bass and Snakehead , the nearshore reefs targeting Grouper and Snapper from my kayak, and exploring the nearby Florida Keys.

I moved back home to the Tampa Bay area after I graduated from college and soon began working for a local seafood company running a commercial fishing boat. I spent my time many days 100+ miles offshore in the Gulf of Mexico catching grouper and snapper for our market to sell to our local customers providing them with the freshest sustainably caught seafood available. I earned my captains license aboard these boats and continued to hone my skills as a fisherman while I earned a living doing what I loved.

I now spend my days taking others out to share in my passion for these incredible fish and the beautiful waters of The Gulf of Mexico and Tampa bay. Nothing brings me more joy than to see the look on someone’s face when they feel the pull of a large fish and hear the drag begin to sing. I am so grateful to be able to help people make lifelong memories with friends and family on the water! I know there are many options for fishing in our area, but I want to personally say thank you to all of my clients for choosing my company to come and spend your time on the water with and my promise to you is I will do everything in my power to make your day one to remember!
